Africa Top Travel Destinations

For those interested in seeing african wildlife, I think East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania in particular) and Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia) are the obvious choices. I'd vote for Kruger National Park in South Africa, Maasai Mara game reserve in Kenya, and Ngorongoro conservation area in Tanzania as the top three wildlife safari destinations.

For archaeological expeditions, Egypt is in a class of its own. The historical monuments and sites in Egypt including the Pyramids, the Karnak temple, Abu Simbel, the Sphinx, the valley of the kings, valley of the queens, etc. are must-see sites.

Seychelles Islands and Mauritius come tops for luxury beach vacations. However, the East African coast especially the beaches in the smaller Islands in Kenya, and Zanzibar do give them a run for their money.

Among the top places for adventure travel and trekking expeditions are Mt Kilimanjaro trekking, Mt Kenya technical climbing, expeditions in the the Fish River Canyon in Namibia, and North-Africa to South-Africa overland travel from Cairo to Cape Town.

This 'list' is of course not exhaustive. Other places worth mentioning include the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the Table mountains in Cape Province of South Africa, Victoria falls in Zimbabwe, Cairo city, and Morocco among many more.
