Golf Thoughts and Information

By Ken Davis of ATO

Golf, for fun and Frustration.

My passion is golf. I would like to say that my game was as great as my passion but I am working on that. The whole thing about golf is that you are competing with a course more than a human opponent. The course can be kind, like when your errant drive hits a tree on the side of the fairway and bounces back to the fairway. Or the course can be brutal, like another drive goes so deep into the forest that you need a guide just to get back out. But then the next whole you drive down the middle, land on the green in regulation and one putt for a birdie. That is one of the greatest feelings I have ever had playing any sport and I have played many.

I love the game, but also I enjoy those I meet on the course or in tournaments. There is a difference in the way most carry themselves and how they conduct themselves on the course. Don't get me wrong, I have played with some that explode, some that throw clubs and some that sulk. However this is usually turned on themselves for screwing up and not at the playing partner. Golf is the only game were you penalize yourself for infractions no one saw. It has a certain amount of honor and pride that is needed in our trying times.

Anyway, I love the game, got to go. Tee times at 12:30.
