The Best Jason Heyward Rookie Cards To Collect
By Tim Cates
The 2010 baseball season is upon us. The green grass, hot dogs and beer is now here for baseball fans all across America. The last few weeks, all the talk is coming out of the Atlanta Braves spring training camp. The Braves have this young kid name Jason Heyward and he is a monster. When you first look at him you would think he is a wide receiver in the NFL. He stands at 6'4" inches tall and weighs in at 220 pounds. And he is only 20 years old! And he hits moon shot homers in batting practice. He is all the rage right now as the season gets set to start. Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox just announced a few days back that Jason Heyward has made the ballclub and will be starting the season in the Majors. And if this kid is the real deal, he will never see the Minor Leagues again. Heyward has had a stellar spring training. He has played in 18 games and has had 49 at-bats. And he has an impressive .347 batting average with 1 home run and 5 RBI. He has collected 17 hits with 4 stolen bases and 9 walks. He also has 24 total bases. No wonder the future looks bright for Jason Heyward. He has speed, power and a good batting eye. Now, as baseball fans, we have to very careful in annointing a young player like Heyward as the second coming of Willie Mays. It is one thing to hit well in spring training, but it is another ball game (no pun intended) to hit when it really counts, in the regular season. Case in point: Remember Gregg Jefferies? Or Joe Charboneau? Or Todd Van Poppel? These guys were highly regarded as the next baseball super stars but their careers fizzled before they even started. But Jason Heyward appears to have it all right in front of him. Let's see if he goes out and gets it and becomes the next big super star in baseball. Now to the fun part. With all the hype comes a golden opportunity for baseball card collectors everywhere. Jason Heyward rookie cards are on fire right now and are selling very well on eBay. And if he starts the 2010 baseball hot, look for his rookie cards to get even hotter. His true rookie cards can be found in 2007 issues but he has some 2008 cards that are fetching some premium prices. I recommend baseball card collectors to go pick up a few 2007 baseball boxes now before they start going up in price. I just recently picked up four 2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects hobby boxes and are putting them away. Not even gonna bust them open. It will be fun to see if these boxes go up or down in price. Jason Heyward holds the key to these boxes because his rookie cards are potentially in them. Just in case you are wondering which Jason Heyward rookie cards to pick up right now, I have compiled a list below of his most sought after issues that are being snatched up by baseball card collectors at this point. The best Jason Heyward rookie cards from 2006, 2007 & 2008 are (drum roll please): 2006 Topps Bowman AFLAC Short Print Auto Rookie 2007 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks & Prospects #BDPP54 2007 Bowman Chrome Draft Auto Serial Numbered to 50 2007 Bowman Sterling Auto Rookie #BSP-JH 2007 Just Minors Rookie Auto #JF-16 2007 Donruss Elite Rookie Auto Serial Numbered to 750 2008 Tri Star Auto Rookie 2008 Bowman Chrome Auto Rookie Refractor #BCP121 Well, I hope the list above helps all of you baseball card collectors out there get a jump start on your Jason Heyward rookie card collection.
