Why Politicians Are Not Like Dogs
We all know, or think we know, that dogs do go to heaven. Contrastingly, most folks are firmly convinced that politicians are barred from entering the pearly gates, even St. Peter can see right through them (the politicians, that is,not the hallowed gates.) Why, one might ponder, are these truths so evident? It's because politicos are so different from K9's. The characteristics of the two are diametrically opposite. Have you ever believed, in your wildest dreams, that our elected representatives were "trustworthy?" Do they ever perform up to their promises? Is "loyalty," except possibly to their party, ever observed by the voters who got them elected? How about "devotion?" Oh, sure, if it's to their upward career advancement. Then there's "honesty," a quality so foreign to every politician that it eludes them big time, except during campaigns and polling. "Love" unconditionally pervades their speeches to their constituents before, during and even after elections. In fact, love of an extra-curricular type, often enough provides them a spate of public attention. So, it should by now be glaringly apparent that politicians are devoid of all the wonderful qualities dogs possess, the very ones that not only endear them to all of us, but which also guarantee entrance through those pearly gates. |
